Safeguarding 1 of 14

1. Notice for the New Season

As the season is nearly here, please be aware of a few new points to ensure we keep our children safe:

- Some new regulations have come into force – https://www.englandrugby.com/governance/rules-and-regulations/regulations please can everyone read this and in particular ensure they understand Regulation 15.
- Players must adhere to the laws of World rugby in relation to playing kit – this includes being able to wear fingerless mitts but not gloves and not having any zips, studs or buckles etc on their clothing. There are certain items of additional clothing that are permitted for ladies and girls so please ensure you read http://laws.worldrugby.org/?law=4&language=EN Please note that whilst it states that mouth guards may be worn, we as a club have agreed that mouth guards MUST be worn for contact rugby.
- If any child in U13’s and below is playing in sports goggles we need a written letter from a dispensing optician confirming the safety of the goggles and also need to inform the RFU that the child will be taking part in the pilot. Over 14’s may also be permitted to wear goggles in certain circumstances. Please can you ensure that if you have any child wearing sports goggles this is followed and you let me know (details on the attached)
- Updated RFU Safeguarding information (Regulation 21)– please read! http://www.englandrugby.com/mm/Document/General/General/01/31/99/68/RFURegulation212016-2017_English.pdf

If you have any concerns in relation to safeguarding, please email safeguarding@burtonrugbyclub.co.uk
