Close fought game for Burton
Due to restrictions on the number of players who could attend the Rugby Lions Festival this weekend.
The remaining 7 Burton players turned out against 12 from Stafford. Considering this was the first game in the season, and the first competitive game for many of the players, the standard was surprisingly high from the first whistle.
After conceding early tries by Stafford, Burton fought their way back to win the first game 5-4. Some great tagging and some great support running and passing saw Burton draw level at 5-5 in the second game with 5 minutes to go.
Despite energy levels dropping and with no subs to boost the side, the boys really came together as a team to hold out Stafford as the game drew to a close and they clinched a winner with only a minute or so to go to leave the score at 6-5 to Burton. All in all a great start to the season against a Stafford side close in standard to us and refereed fairly by the Stafford coach.
