Another Local derby with Barton

Burton Rascals 55-30 Barton

With the prospect of the third meeting of the season with local rivals Barton the young Crofters were pumped up from the start and started the game at a furious pace and soon took a deserved lead, there passing yet again showed improvement and their support play was outstanding. When called upon there defence was awesome, and throughout the first game no-one missed a tag. Up against a solid defence Barton soon became frustrated and cracks began to appear, which allowed Burton to pull into a comfortable lead which they never looked like losing.
Burtons scorers were Ben Mumford, Dominic Sturman(2), Cameron Callow(2), Marcus Tolley(3), Thomas Harrison(2) and Ben Blackham.

Burton Rascals 45-35 Ashbourne

Burton seemed a little drained from their first game and, despite starting well and keeping a good defensive line, they soon found themselves 3 scores down. Burton finally got into gear and some good defensive work by William Kinston allowed Blackham to dance around the defence to score. This inspired the team and the free flowing running rugby soon returned. Burton soon caught their rivals and pulled ahead to take a hard fought game.

Burton Bucks 25-25 Ashbourne

Burton started the match hoping to show how much their defence had improved, and it wasn't long before the improvements were evident. The Ashbourne defence was equally as good and it turned into a tight match. Burton also showed improved ball handling and support play and did manage to open up the opposition a few times, but they often lost the battle with the touch line.

Burton Bucks 30-35 Barton

With Barton smarting from the first game, they came out all guns blazing and were quickely in the lead. Again though we saw another good defensive display from Burton which kept them in the game. It was nip and tuck all the way in a game that saw 2 good defensive sides. Barton managed to score from the last play of the game which saw them sneak a win.
Burtons scorers were Mathew Lumby(3), Charlie Spendlove(2) and Hector Abel.

Burton Bucks 20-25 Burton Rascals

The final match saw the two Burton sides go head to head, and with the emphasis again on defence it was a tight game. Good tagging and impressive defensive lines meant scoring was hard and it wasn't till midway through the match that Mumford opened up the Bucks defence to score a quickfire hat-trick. This spurred a comeback by the Bucks that saw the Welsh Wizard, Fitzsimmons, fly up the wing to score.
