Burton U10's Staffordshire County Champions 2012!!!
After an exhiliarating morning of rugby Burton U10's stole the show at the Staffordshire County Festival, winning both Plate and Shield competitions!
It was a wild and stormy April morning when Burton U10's arrived at the Stafford RFU ground for the County Festival. The squad fielded teams in both the Shield and Plate competitions. Both teams placed awesome rugby, with excellent sportsmanship and in great team spirit.
The Shield competition team won all four of their Pool 1 matches against Lichfield, Stafford, Leek and Stoke and went on to be victorious against Trentham, the runners up in Pool 2. The team only conceeded one try throughout the pool matches. Lichfield, as runners up in Pool 1, drew against Tamworth and went through to the final.
Burton met Lichfield again in a nail-biting Shield Final, taking the match 4 tries to 0 after some amazing play by both teams to become Staffordsire U10 County Champions 2012!
The Plate competition team played matches against Lichfield, Willenbury and Wolverhampton. Eventually Burton played Lichfield in the final and were victorious to take the plate trophy too.
The coaches and parents are incredibly proud of the team, who all worked together, playing fluid, free flowing rugby to thwart the opposition.
There were so many notable highlights and everyone contributed so much to this fantastic result. A great end to this year's rugby calendar and we're looking forward to the 2012 - 13 season already.
