Burton U10's joined the rest of the mini section for a Wicked tour to Condover. Their first stop saw them encounter Oswestry, where they met fellow tourists from Hitchin, before travelling to Whitchurch.

Oswestry 5-45 Burton
After a late night's partying, the young tourists took to the field with the request of "just have some fun and enjoy your rugby" coming from the coaches. Burton's warm up seemed to blow away the cobwebs and they started very sprightly, the ball was being thrown around with great accuracy and the running from the forwards was direct and purposeful. It didn't take long before Tom Allanson-Smith opened up the scoring. Oswestry did try to get back into the match, but yet again the Burton defence thwarted most of the attacks. The second try came as a ruck was set near the Oswestry line and Cameron Callow was given a perfect pass which he crashed over to score.
The forwards,Thomas Allanson-Smith, Eddy Brown, Tom Harrison and Charlie Evans, who again put in a performance that saw him rekindle his old form, didn't allow their opponents too much ball as they outpowered them all over the park, and what ball they did get the back line of Ben Mumford, Cameron Callow, Olly Gibbs, Hector Abel, Benjie Blackham and Jack Montgomery kept their hosts to 1 try. Burton showed their dominance by running in another 7 trys, with the forwards and backs sharing the spoils.

Hitchin 25-5 Burton
The second game saw Burton face up to a BIG Hitchin side. The Burton boys tried their hardest, but it was noticeable that they were a little reluctant to really get stuck in, as the size difference was quite a daunting prospect for them. The half time team talk saw the coaches just encourage the boys to dig deep and tackle like they can, Hector Able was the first to put the big hit in, unfortunately, even though Abel stopped his opponent he was unable to continue because of an injury to his shoulder. This seemed to work though and the game became a much more even state of affairs and the Young Crofters walked off the field with their heads held high.

Whitchurch 15-15 Burton
The third day of the tour saw some weary looking faces, despite this the Young Crofters again produced a performance they can be proud of. Again they worked as a team and this worked well as they quickly went 2 trys up. At this point a combination of Whitchurch going up a gear and Burton having a wobble saw the host score a quick hat-trick, before Burton levelled the game a got the draw they desrved.

Whitchurch 0-40 Burton
The final game saw Burton's best performance of the tour, with the trys distributed around the squad, it was a polished perforance of how a strong impenetrable defence gives a strong base from which you can attack. The white line fever of previous weeks seemed to have cleared up as no one took the ball too far on their own, the support play was at its highest level, the passing was inch perfect and the tackling was hard, but fair.

A big thanks goes to the U11's for organising the tour, and thanks to Condover for their hospitality and food (the locust was lovely!).
