Burton U12's took on local rivals Lichfield last weekend. With a slightly depleted squad, Burton were still able to field 2 teams but without the luxury of substitutions.
The boys worked hard in both games played but couldn't quite get their usual flow of play going. Despite this though they dug in deep to put on a competitive performance against 2 solid Lichfield teams.
Stand-out players were Harry Bradley and Matt Philliskirk who just missed out on the player of the match performances. Both worked hard and consistently throughout both games, putting in some dominant tackles and securing the ball in the rucks.
The players of the match were awarded to Callum Bateman and Oliver James. Callum has had a flying start to the season and has worked consistently hard in training and matches. This week his tackling was exemplary, he never took a backward step and despite the constant pressure from Lichfield he never gave up, even when sustaining some pretty harsh studs to his side, he got to his feet and continued to work hard for his team. Oliver James received the award for the 2nd team. Always focused and determined, he works hard for his team and excels in all areas of play. During this game, OJ's work rate was outstanding. His ball distribution was on point, he continuously tackled hard and really stood out with his continuously hard counter-rucking. What a performance from OJ this week, well done and keep up the good work.
