14 players made the long journey to Coventry on a grey overcast day to take on Barkers Butts. The team of Josh, Theo, Harry M, Lucas, Kian, Oliver, Alex W, Jack, Phillipe, Matty E, Chris, Dylan, Logan and captained by Joe bonded quickly as one unit and played more as a team than any time previously this season. Barkers had 2 large strong runners in the centre who wouldn't have looked out of place in an U15s team and unsurprisingly most of their tries came through this route.
Despite some of the pack playing out of position the scrum held up well with some great hooking against the head by both Theo and Olly; they also followed this up with some rucking that was certainty more aggressive than late. In the backs Jack did well to distribute ball whilst under pressure from the opposition which lead to some great runs notably by Matty and Dylan who were both unlucky not to get their names on the scoresheet today. Alex did get on the scoresheet twice with a couple of his trademark interceptions; not to be outdone there was a rare forwards try by Joe with a pick and go after a couple of phases at their try line with a great driving maul and ruck.
Tackling was much improved with some try saving tackles by Logan, Dylan and Joe amongst others. Everyone on that team came off the pitch thoroughly knackered but with huge smiles as they knew they had played great rugby today and should feel proud of themselves as despite losing they played the better rugby (in my totally unbiased opinion).
