Burton Under 14s hosted Ashby. The Ashby game is always one of the biggest games of the season, and a bench mark on how far the team have progressed. Straight from kick off, Ashby immediately lived up to their reputation as one of the best teams in the area. They played with great speed, organisation, and a high level of commitment at the breakdown. However, despite conceding three early tries, it was evident Burton were determined to play good rugby. Desperate to keep the score down, there were some excellent last gasp tackles from Josh and Kobie. Burtons first half effort was rewarded before half time when Kobie went in at the corner to score a great individual try. As the whistle went, the visitors led 24-5.

At the start of the second half, Burton were unlucky to suffer a number of injuries which impacted on the shape of the team. This allowed Ashby to dominate, running in 26 unanswered points in the second half. There were some great individual performances from the Burton team. Cameron was outstanding with his strong, powerful runs. Josh and Elliott tackled relentlessly all game. Dru had another excellent game in the tight. The team also benefited by a strong performance by Ryan Moll on his return.

Playing Ashby is always a huge challenge for the kids. Despite the loss today, the spirit and commitment shown by the team today reflects the great camaraderie that has been built during the season.
