I the February the under 15's played Oadby and after a tifghtly fought game lost out by a few points today was itme to even the score and put on a good performance in front of the home crowd on the croft.
The Oadby Wygg team arrived and were physically bigger than their Burton counterparts, but then size isn't everything when you,ve got some nimble backs and flying wingers.
The first 10 minutes saw Burton on the back foot, defending deep in their own half but managing to keep the Oadby Blitzkreig at bay. After weathering the initial storm Burton started to stretch their legs with the forwards matching their larger opposition and the backs stretching the Oadby defence. As Burton pressed forward their were several probing breaks from Ed Wainman and Chris Trodero, eventually Burton made the break through with Will Roden flying through thr gaps created in the Oadby defence to score for Burton in the corner, the kick was from a tight angle and didn'tmake it Burton 5 Oadby 0
The size of the Oadby pack was going to tell sooner or later and despite the valiant efforts of the likes of Jack Deeming, Tom Hughes and T.J.Ward, slowly Oadby crept forward and managed to score a try and convert it Burton 5 Oadby 7.
However Burtons Quick thinking and fast back line again proved too much from Oadby as Burtons response to going behind was for Eddie Nicholls to do a cheekie little chip ball into some space behind the Oadby defence for the ever improving Cameron Gaunt to break througth onto the ball that bonved nicely into his habds for him to score for Burton that went unconverted Burton 10 Oadby 7.
The second half saw Both teams just as committed as the first half, with Oadby trying to keep the ball rumbling on with their forwards and Burton wanting to use the open spaces on the wings. The Burton tactic was the first to pay dividends with Cameron Gaunt breaking througth again using his pace and strength to score again for Burton, score now Burton 15 Oadby 7.
Another good game from Ben Wileman saw him rising and falling like a souffle in the line outs, and make a couple of good runs across the pitch. Burton made several changes during the game but whoever went off and whoever came on did not affect the way the team played, as total commitment was given by every player.
Within the last minutes Oadby managed to get a try back , but couldn't convert it for the final score to be Burton 15 Oadby 12.
Onceagain a cracking game of rugby played by both teams, Burton players wwell done, the effort and commitment was 100%.
