They soon took an early lead with a Will Peach penalty, but Cannock stormed back to drive over from five-metres out for a converted try to take a 7-3 lead. Burton played some fine attacking rugby with Sam Benjamin, Lee English and Peach all featuring prominently, while Damon Varney and Ollie Cooke showed how much their absence had been missed with some hard hitting tackles.
While Cannock received a double sin binning Jack Bartram scored a try to put the home side back in the lead at 8-7. This was followed by another backs move inspired by Bartram as he scored his second try for Peach to convert. Then Varney pounced on a loose ball to race up field and feed Benjamin who raced in for a try under the posts. So with Peach adding the extra points Burton led 22-7.
Cannock scored another forward orientated try before Karl English rounded off the days scoring when he started a move with a blindside break before taking the final pass to dive over in the corner and give Burton a comfortable 32-12 victory.
