Another slow start cost Burton AXV the game before the 20 minute mark. An intercept, several knock ons and poor tackling, saw the Towcester team score 21 unanswered points in the first 15 minutes.
When Burton held onto the ball they looked dangerous, especially in the backs with Josh Kent, Alex Nesbitt and Dale Koopman making meters out wide. Another Towcester try on the 20 minute mark ended the game as a contest, Burton were now playing for pride.
With the Toaster pack dominant over the crofters, it was difficult to build a base to attack from for the backs. A huge hit from Loz Betty sparked some energy into the team and they began to find some weak points in the opposition defence, Burton had several opportunities, but turnovers and poor decision made the boys there own worst enemies.
Another Towcester try on the stroke of half time took the score to Towcester 35-0 Burton.
Loz Betty gave the boys some stern words during the half time chat, and he demanded a response in the second half.
The second half kicked off and straight away Towcester pushed for another score, but the Crofters had finally woken up, albeit 40 minutes too late. The tackling was more aggressive, the scrum stood firm and the defensive line would not break. When they finally crossed they it was from the back of a scrum 5 meters out, this took the score to 42-0.
Burton hit back straight from the restart, good work by the forwards took them deep into the Toaster 22, Tim Barker crashed over and finally Burton were on the score sheet, 42-5. The momentum was with Burton now and from a lineout they drove over for another score, prop Tim Barker grabbed his second. 42-10.
The Towcester team added another try before the end, to bring the final score to 47-10.
