Burton kicked off and held Stratford behind the ten metre line for several phases before the visitors moved the ball wide and knocked on.
Burton surged forward at the scrum but lost possession. Spuddy Taylor forced a penalty for holding on and Harry Titley kicked to touch on the twenty two. The forwards drove from the line out and then Ed Saunders and Tom Murphy carried only for Burton to concede a penalty. Play remained in the Stratford half and he visitors conceded a penalty which Titley kicked over for three points.
Burton were in charge of both possession and territory and a further penalty soon followed.
Josh Cartwright caught the kick and barged his way upfield. Matt Tivey jinked through would be tacklers and Burton were back in the Stratford half.
A penalty was conceded and Stratford missed touch. Lee English made a strong run on the left wing but Burton then lost possession and the visitors hacked the loose ball ahead. Burton scrambled well. Stratford then spun the ball wide but Burton managed to contain them before missing a couple of tackles and then conceding a penalty which was kicked to make he score 6-3.
Taylor and Titley both made half breaks but a penalty was conceded. Stratford had Burton back-pedalling and a kick through looked to have set up a try only for English to sweep across and get a foot on the ball to avert the danger. Tom Murphy was replaced by Adam Smith, but Burton continued to be dominant on the scrummage.
After the break the Stratford Full Back spilt the Burton clearance kick on half way. joe Gazzard carried we'll from the base and then Chaz Bunting continued the move. Burton were penalised for holding on Ten metres out. Bunting was replaced by Alfie Grant.
Stratford pressurised the Burton line before a penalty resulted in a Yellow Card for Daryl Banton. Stratford levelled the scores and very soon afterwards took the lead with a further penalty.
Burton were repeatedly penalised and unable to gain any traction in the game. Liam Hucknall was replaced by Jeri Oldfield.
Stratford scored a good try counter-attacking from a Burton kick and the conversion gave them a ten point lead.
Stratford missed a kick at goal but had the Burton line under siege immediately afterwards. Taylor was sin-binned and the visitors kicked to the corner. The throw was not straight and from the scrum Eddie Nicholls made an excellent touch kick.
Stratford attacked and were awarded a penalty for off-side. Some slick hands created a final try but the kick was unsuccessful. So the final league home game was lost 6-24 leaving a visit to bottom side Walsall as the final league fixture.
