Burton complete double over Kenilworth

Burton got back to winning ways as they scored nineteen points in each half to overcome Kenilworth.
In the early stages of the game Kenilworth were on the attack, however it was Burton who got the scoreboard moving first after only six minutes. Harry Titley put a testing kick through and the Kenilworth Full Back kicked the ball dead to give Burton a 5 metre scrum. The Crofters Pack surged forward and No. 8 Ed Saunders touched down. Dave Archer was unsuccessful with the kick.
Burton created pressure for themselves by missing touch with kicks and allowing the visitors to run back at them. Kenilworth enjoyed some good territory and with a penalty advantage pending missed a drop-goal attempt, but made no mistake form the tee.
From the restart Burton chased well and came out with the ball. Joe Gazzard and Saunders carried well into the visitors back before the backs were released and Archer fed Jack Brooks who crossed for a try. Archer converted.
The game was put in jeopardy through a calf injury to the Referee who, after treatment, gamely hobbled on to see proceedings through.
Kenilworth enjoyed a spell of sustained pressure only for Burton to defend very well and hold out. Francesco Zeleme, playing his last game before returning home to Argentina caught and overthrow and made ground. Nick Oxley then bumped his opposing winger and took play into the opponents half. Chaz Bunting, making his debut at Scrum Half appeared showed great pace with a sniping run from thirty metres for an excellent try. Archer converted.
Burton commanded territory again before Kenilworth counter attacked and kicked a penalty.
The half closed out in a scrappy fashion and Burton led 19-6.
Play was end to end after the break and after missing a scoring opportunity, Burton missed a few tackles and Kenilworth crossed for a converted try. Tom Murphy replaced Matt Tivey at Prop.
Lee English, Bunting and Gazzard made ground for Burton but a penalty was conceded. Josh Cartwright stole the ensuing line-out and Archer, Brooks, Matt Davies and Jack Neal took play forward before Archer attacked and delayed a pass to Titley for the Captain to cross for a try and secure the bonus point. Archer’s kick hit both posts before going over.
Matt Davies made a strong carry but was injured in the process and was replaced by Eddie Nicholls.
Cartwright and Neal ran a kick back well and then Titley kicked a penalty to the corner. Kenilworth stole the lineout and relieved pressure. Lewis Sturgess replaced Saunders.
Some inter-play Titley and Archer resulted in a try for Archer.
Kenilworth refused to lie down and attacked. Brooks was injured trying to tackle and left the field, Saunders returned and Neal went out into the backs.
Neither side scored for a while as Kenilworth had the better of territory but the pressure eventually told and the Warwickshire outfit crossed for try in the Centres. The conversion made it 31-20 and Burton needed to make the game safe.
A promising move was ended when Burton conceded a penalty and the visitors then attacked again. Burton conceded penalties and Kenilworth kicked for touch in the quest for a try. Sturgess stole a line-out and eighteen year-old Bunting relived the pressure.
Burton attacked and Oxley ran in an individual try. Prop Forward Zeleme signed of with a deft conversion to make the score 38-20 in favour of Burton.
Burton remain in fifth pace three points behind fourth placed Worcester and eleven points behind second-placed Stratford with a game in hand on both. Next week Burton travel to Leek.
