Yesterday, Sunday 08th January 2012, 7 members of Burton RFC U14’s represented their Staffordshire County in a fixture against Shropshire U14’s county at Walsall RFC.

They were Callum Brodrick, Danny Causer, Joe Gorman, Daniel Heale, Jake Morris, Josh Smith & Levi Davis.
Will Beardsmore & Charlie Bunting were also selected but anable to play due to injury.
All players contributed well in a really tough fixture against Shropshire team that were well drilled, very physical and had several games as a county squad together, whereas this was the first ever fixture for Staffs U14’s. The score was 17-12 to Shropshire, but all players can draw strength from their performance. Burton RFC wing Levi Davis scored the first try for the county team, with a strong and determined run with a touchdown in the corner, even whilst being tackled. Burton U14’s captain, Joe Gorman, also captained the County side endorsing the quality that is now being produced by the Crofters Junior section.
All players were awarded a County tie by ex- All Black & current Leicester Tigers player Craig Newby who had attended to see the quality of talent on display with 5 of the above players being in Tigers EPDG (Elite Player Development Group). Well done to all.’
