At the stunning location of COBRA RFC (Caereinion OldBoys Rugby Association RFC), Meifod, Powys, Mid Wales.
The Welsh Exiles side were drawn from all corners of England and even from Scotland, and this was their first outing together, so the quality of rugby they produced was to be commended against a Mid Wales side who have had much time together. The pace and standard of rugby from both sides was a pleasure to see, and the Exiles side took an early lead which they were never to look back from, running out 43-0 winners.
It was a massively proud moment for Jakey and his family to represent the Welsh Exiles - which he qualifies for owing to his Welsh Grandparents - and comes in a whirlwind season that has seen him earn a place in the Staffordshire School of Rugby, play for Staffordshire U14s and most of all thoroughly enjoy his rugby at Burton RFC. Enormous thanks for his development must go to the fabulous Coaches at Burton RFC U14s !
He was awarded his Welsh Exiles tie by Terwyn Williams, Secretary of the Welsh Exiles, to add to his County one which he received back in January.
Jakey has also been invited to attend the Welsh Exiles North Wales Assessment Centre at Rydal Penrhos School, Colwyn Bay on 24th and 25th March 2012. Firstly though a small matter of Burton RFC U14s v Stafford RUFC U14s in the final of the Staffordshire County Cup on Sunday 18th March 2012 – if selected.
For those of players U14s to U17s that prefer the daffodil to the rose, the leek to the thistle or shamrock, that live outside of Wales and were either born in Wales, or have Welsh parents or grandparents, and are of county standard, and are interested in the WelshExiles, please take a look at https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/welshexiles/ and /or contact the following persons:
