What an incredible season it has been for the Burton Rugby Club U14 Girls, full of determination, growth, and unforgettable moments.
This year has seen the squad continue to grow, with a fantastic mix of experienced players and new girls stepping into the game. In total, 29 girls played over the course of the season, which is a fantastic achievement for the squad. It’s been brilliant to see the commitment, teamwork, and spirit shown by every single player who has pulled on a Burton shirt this season.
On the pitch, the girls have had an outstanding year, playing 19 matches, winning 16, drawing 2, and losing just 1, a record that reflects their hard work, resilience, and development as a team.
The standout moment of the year came in the Staffordshire Cup Final, where Burton faced a strong Lichfield side. In a hard-fought and exciting match, the girls showed real resilience and heart to come away with a fantastic 17–10 victory and lift the trophy.

What made this achievement even more special were the circumstances leading up to the final. Due to injuries and unavailability, three girls who were completely new to rugby stepped up and played in the match. Their courage and willingness to get involved perfectly summed up the team spirit that has defined this season.
A huge thank you goes to all the players who have represented the team throughout the year. Your effort, improvement, and support for each other have been outstanding.
Massive thanks also to our coaches, Fliss, Cameron, and Colin, for their time, dedication, and support in developing the girls both on and off the pitch. Your hard work has made a real difference to the team.
Finally, a special mention to our sponsor, WNPG Plant Hire, whose support has been greatly appreciated throughout the last 2 seasons.
To the girls moving up to U16 next season, go forward with confidence and good luck — you’ve set a fantastic foundation and should be incredibly proud. For those staying in the U14 next season, continue to progress, believe in yourselves, and welcome your new teammates as you keep building something special at Burton.
Here’s to everything the girls have achieved this year, and to even more success next season.
