Pete was a pupil at Burton Grammar School and went on to represent England Schools at both the U15 & U19 levels.
Pete trained as a teacher and secured his first role at The Forest of Needwood, which was then at the current Richard Wakefield site in Tutbury. This was followed by moving to the Rolleston site, then to De Ferrers when the Rolleston site was sold to The Tech College. Pete was a very popular Art Teacher and Head of House, fondly remembered as well for his habit of bursting into song when walking the school corridors.
Pete made 130 appearances for Burton between the 1958-59 and 1967-68 seasons, but an injury forced him to retire. He captained the club in the 1963-64 season. Later, Pete served as Chair of Selectors and put his artistic skills to good use by designing ties for tours. Pete’s son Matthew & Grandson Dylan followed in playing for Burton as youngsters.
Pete’s varied interests included local singing groups, Stretton Bowls Club, and he was a keen angler.
Our thoughts are with Peter's wife, Louise, and sons, John and Matthew, as well as the rest of the family, at this sad and difficult time.
