It is recognised that a tremendous amount of time and effort has been put into the planning and managing of safety throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic and as a club we are extremely grateful to all of those who have contributed.

All the work which has been done is valuable, in terms of both the recent past and for the coming months.

A wide range of factors were considered at the meeting including involvement of the club in the community, the fact that there are high infection rates in the locality and the fact that Christmas is now very nearly upon us.

It is appreciated that this will lead to disappointment; however, the conclusion made was that it would be in the best interests of everyone involved with the club, either directly or indirectly, that there should be a break in club activity from today until the New Year.

We are not alone in making such decisions. For example, Burton College is also suspending face to face activities early to safeguard staff and students as have numerous other sporting clubs.

The next General Committee Meeting will be on 4th January and ‘Return to Rugby’ will be high on the agenda once more. The Covid restrictions which apply at that time will be taken into account and again a broad range of factors will be considered before a decision is made on returning to play before they are communicated.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support during this very difficult year. We have lost so much in 2020 and it is saddening those traditions such as the Christmas Extravaganza and the Boxing Day game will not take place.

However, this is for the best and we would like to wish everyone a Merry, Safe Christmas and Happy New Year.
