The design includes the name of the fourth member on the memorial from World War One.

Marcel Lourtie was one of the Burton Sportsmen. Renowned for their fitness they were a group of men who played rugby for Burton in the winter and then took up rowing during the summer months.
He was a Belgian national working in the brewing industry and lived at 42 Lichfield Street. At the outbreak of WW1 he returned to his home country. Marcel was mobilised as an officer in the Belgian Grande Civique following German invasion of Belgium on 4th August 1914, but he was killed on 18th September at Zottegem.
For the last 100 years no details of Marcel could be found anywhere until Mike Taylor discovered that Marcel's surname had been spelt incorrectly on the Burton RFC Memorial. This has now been skillfully rectified by club stalwart, Paul Sankey.
