Happy New Year to All our Members and Friends
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the season – so much has happened both on and off the pitch, including the announcement of a new President, and still so much of the season to go …
From a playing perspective, you will all be aware of the relative successes to date of the various teams that many of you will be actively involved in – whether that’s taking your toddler to Little Ruggers or playing in the Minis, Juniors, Seniors or as one of those valuable volunteers. And we still have the second half of leagues to play, County Cups to challenge, Tournaments to enjoy, another Seniors Tour, and more.
A key point here is to reiterate part of the Mission Statement for Burton RFC … ‘aspiring to be a successful playing, community and social rugby club providing opportunities for all in an atmosphere that is friendly, inclusive and safe’ – hopefully the fact that we have greater participation than ever before and that we are ‘probably the biggest amateur rugby club in the Midlands’ is something we can all be proud of. This is happening because of the efforts of our staff and volunteers – the Club is the people, the culture, and the values – Thank you.
A quick update on some of the investments we have made in the first half of the season, not always so obvious/visible: A new Rationale Oven in the kitchen following the new walk-in fridge earlier in the season; new safety barriers on the stand and continued investment in the pitches.
With more to come … new chairs, signage, more investment in the ground and continued investment in our people.
Here’s hoping that you have a great 2026 – and despite everything that’s happening in the world, remember the place where there are always fond memories and friends to share time with – your Club.
