Daily Mail RBS Schools Rugby Competition

Claire Bradley11 Mar 2013 - 19:44

Former Burton Captain Andy Stride may have hung up his boots years ago, but his sons are following in their Father’s footsteps on the rugby pitch.

Stride who made nearly 200 appearances for Burton 1st XV in the number 10 shirt is now watching from the touchline, along with wife Kathryn, as two of their sons take part in the biggest schools rugby competition in the world, with great success for Warwick School.

Eldest son, Henry, reached the U18s Cup semi-final, but lost out to Northampton Schools for Boys 10 – 13, whilst younger brother, William, has reached the final in the U15s Cup, as Warwick came out on top against the previously unbeaten Bromsgrove, with the final score of 17 – 16.

This win has booked William a place in the Cup Final which is being held at Twickenham on Saturday 23rd March. Burton RFC wishes William and the rest of the Warwick School U15s team all the best in their final against Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield.

The Final is part of Schools Day, with the matches below being played:-
U15 Vase: Felsted vs. Royal Latin, KO 11am
U15 Cup: Warwick vs. QEGS Wakefield, KO 12.30pm
U18 Vase: Felsted School vs. Yarm School, KO 2pm
U18 Cup: Dulwich College vs. Northampton School for Boys, KO 3.40pm
