At the Mini & Junior AGM on Tuesday 11th August, the Mini Juniors (MJ) unanimously voted John in as their new Director. John replaces David Storer, who has led the MJ section for the last 3 years.

We caught up with John after his appointment. Here's what he said...

"It is an honour and a privilege to serve as the Mini & Junior Director at Burton Rugby Club and help shape the next generation of rugby players. With almost 500 boys and girls involved in our Mini & Junior section, I am incredibly proud to support an environment where young people can develop their skills, build friendships, and enjoy everything that rugby has to offer.

My connection with Burton Rugby Club began as an Under-11 player, and I progressed through the age groups, Colts, and into senior rugby. Apart from a brief spell at Nuneaton, Burton has been my rugby home throughout my playing career. I was fortunate enough to captain both the 1st XV and the club, and I have made 342 appearances for the Burton 1st XV.

Rugby has always been a family affair for me, I have coached my sons from Under-6s through to Under-16s. Through those coaching experiences, I have seen first-hand the positive impact that sport, teamwork, and strong club values can have on young people.

Burton Rugby Club is much more than a place where I play and coach. It has been a defining part of my life. In fact, it is where I met my wife! The club has helped shape who I am today, providing opportunities, friendships, and experiences that have influenced me both on and off the field.

The reason I volunteer in this role is simple: I want future generations to benefit from the same experiences that I have enjoyed. My ambition is to help create an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable environment where every child can develop, make lifelong memories, and feel
proud to be part of Burton Rugby Club."
