This event will give participants the chance to experience sleeping rough in the town with very little shelter and no toilet facilities — giving a much more realistic view of what it is like to be homeless. The Sleep Out will take place overnight from 8pm to 6am the following day, and weather conditions are likely to be harsh.
All proceeds will go towards equipping the new Reconnect Project, due to open in early 2011.
Volunteers and participants are needed to make this event a success. Anyone who registers by November 5 will be guaranteed a goody bag on the night.
There is a £10 registration fee.
Anyone wishing to register for the event is encouraged to visit the website Virginmoneygiving/burtonymca, email Gillian Cox at gillian.cox@burtonymca.org or to phone 07969 990 204.
