Burton U9's power to first contact win
On a sunny and bright Sunday morning Burton played host to Walsall RFC at the Oxhay.
Burton U9's were eager to play their first competitive 'contact' match after having 2 years of playing Tag rugby and although the players were excited there were a few anxious parents on the sidelines hoping there would be no injuries. In fact the Walsall coach stated that he had never had so much travelling support.
Burton coaches split their players into two teams of equal ability and then 3 matches took place, with each Burton team playing one and a half matches each.
Although the Walsall team gave a spirited performance they were no match for a well motivated Burton team who powered to victory in all 3 matches.
Burton made the advantage with some very well worked tries and some excellent defending, putting in some really good tackles to win back the ball in important areas of the field. Burton also used the touch lines to good effect to shepherd Walsall in to touch on many occasions to win the ball back.
