On a bright day Burton got their 2023 Staffs Cup challange off to a winning start.
Burton following a good win against Nottingham Casuals - got off to a great start when Conor Bradley playing centre made a great break to score the first try of the afternoon. Burntwood had difficulty making any progress against the Burton side and had very little possession with Burton able to compete effectively at the line out.
The first half was finished with two tries from Cameron Summers and another by Connor. Rhys Griffiths converting 3 of the scores to go into half time with Burton leading 28 - 0. The only downside on the Burton first half performance was 2 yellow cards for indiscipline.
At the start of the second half Conner Basset scored two quick breakaway tries to finish Burntwoods hopes of getting back into the game. Further tries from Jack Bayes and Cameron Summers completed a solid victory for the home team.
Burntwood suffered some injuries to their players however they continued to battle through to the end but could not make any progress against the Burton team. Burton coming away winners 64 - 0.
