Burton lost a bruising encounter with Worcester Wanderers, but can take many positives from the game as they prepare for Staffs encounter.

Burton 15 (5) Worcester 40 (20)

Tries: Josh Hart 2, Oliver Corbett

This was always going to be a good test for Burton as they faced premiership opposition Worcester Wanderers. Burton struggled in the opening minutes as Wanderers won good possession and made headway within the Burton half. A good ruck left an opening in the Burton defensive line and a good passing move ended with the opening try in the corner. From the kick off Burton secured ball and managed to move the ball forward via Charlie Newcombe. However, Wanderers turned over a Burton scum and scored their second try on the left wing. From the restart Burton were under further pressure as Wanderers secured ball and put phases together in the Burton half. The Burton line was breached by a superb Wanderers move that resulted in the third try. Burton needed a lift and a good positive run by James North allowed Oliver Corbett quick ball. Josh Wright carried and offloaded to Josh Hart to finish in good style in the corner. However, Burton had a ruck turned over and the Wanderers scored another try in the corner.

The second third of the game was a continuation of the first as Burton struggled to put phases together. Burton tackled hard but were out rucked by the Wanderers as they scored another try. A turn over from a line out and quick movement bought another try under the posts. Two quick tries in the corner and Wanderers ended the third 40-5 in the lead.

Burton showed true grit in the final third and began to put some phases of play together and put the pressure on the Wanderers defensive line. Burton forwards started to scrummage and won quick ball for Oliver Corbett to score with strong supported run through the middle. Burton maintained the pressure and another strong scrum and a good move down the line cleared a gap for Josh Hart to score his second try in the corner. The final whistle blew Burton 15 Worcester 40.
