A strong display of aggressive rucking and tackling, together with quick ball and good hands was just the recipe for a Masterchef display by Burton.

Burton 50 (26) Burntwood 0 (0)

Tries: Josh Hart 5, Connor Wood, Harry Grice, Matt Evans

Con: S Willets 3, J Dutton, D Grimsdell

The game was barely 3 minutes in when strong rucking from Jack Wardle, Cameron Scobie and Charlie Newcombe turned over ball for Burton. A quick pass from Eddie Baxter left Josh Hart the room to break through for his first try of the day. The Burton forwards gained momentum from this and a surge found the Burntwood defence offside. A quick penalty and Connor Wood broke through several tackles to score a great try under the posts. The third try was also from strong forward pressure and a determined carry by Sam Willets before a fine passing move left Josh Hart in the open for his second try. Burntwood restarted by kicking the ball straight to Harry Grice who immediately ran the ball straight back through several tackles to score the try of the game. Burntwood replied with several phases of ball before the tackle of the game by William Hulbert caused a knock on. Burton retained the pressure but never added to the score before the half time whistle. Burton 26 Burntwood 0.

The second half was a more aggressive game and Burton held their own. Josh Hart scored his third from the restart and moments later scored again following strong rucking from Oliver North and Calum Launchbury. The intensity of the Burntwood tackles increased and they showed some grit and determination to match Burton for a period of the game. However, Burton were not in the mood to relax and a good scrum allowed a sweeping move by the backs who released Josh Hart to score his fifth try of the game. The final try was another excellent combination of strong defence, aggressive rucking and fast ball via the backs. Matt Evans finished the move with a determined dive in the corner to finish the scoring. Burton 50 (8 tries) Burntwood 0. The highlight of the encounter was the defensive work by Burton who never allowed Burntwood to register a point.
