Burton put the disappointment of last week behind them and return to winning ways against Ilkeston RFC.

Burton RFC 50 (31) Ilkeston RFC 12 (0)

Tries: Oliver Corbett 2, Josh Hart 2, Daniel Grimsdell, Jamie Dutton, Matthew Evans, Harry Grice

Con: Jamie Dutton 5

If the coaches were anxious that Burton would start as slow as last week, they were not by the end of the first 60 seconds of this encounter. Ilkeston took the kick off, Calum Launchbury secured the ball in the ruck, quick ball out by Oliver Corbett to josh Hart who fed Daniel Grimsdell to run in the try. Simple rugby at its best. From the restart Tommy Collingwood ran the ball at the Ilkeston line, Oliver Corbett fed Calum Launchbury who passed to Jammie Dutton to score from close in. Burton were in rampant mood and soon scored a third in the corner via Josh Harts effort from a good Burton line out. Burton then scored the try of the game following a solid line out via Alex S and Jack Wardell, the ball was passed with speed and accuracy through the backs for Josh Hart to finish under the posts, via the support of Ethan Carter. The half ended and Ilkeston were not on the score card as Burton matched fluid attack with solid determination in defence.

Ilkeston showed some grit in the second half and made it more difficult for Burton to increase their lead. Ilkeston were rewarded for their efforts with a forwards try following several phases of play. However, normal service was resumed when Matthew Evans managed to steal the ball from a Ilkeston maul and run it in for a try. Another typical strong run from Josh Wright and an excellent offload to Harry Grice secured more points for Burton. The final try was the result of a turn over from an excellent counter ruck, and the quick thinking Oliver Corbett who side stepped the Ilkeston scrum-half to score hie second. The second half witnessed a spirited Ilkeston side who never gave up, this was rewarded with another consolation try on the final whistle.

At times Burton showed their true character and played fluid rugby at its best. Quick ball and quick backs were just the combination to secure a convincing victory.
