Burton U13s v Newcastle: away

On the road again today with inclement weather forecast, but we actually escaped most of the rain over in Newcastle under Lyme. Another strong (and large!) team on show for the opposition who played well, particularly up front, and dominated the early going. The Burton Boys really stood up to the test, fighting hard at every breakdown, an area of huge improvement for us.

Our highlight was the 4th quarter. Revved up by an inspirational speech from Jason, the lads really went out and showed what they are made of. Despite several unsavoury incidents dealt out by our opposition, our boys dominated the last 15 mins, showing courage and stamina to camp out in Newcastle’a half.

We will look to work on tackling and our defensive line as our next areas for improvement. A tough test of our character today, with Burton leaving with their heads held high - the coaching team could not have been prouder of how the team faced up to, and rose above, challenges of all types.
