Tough Opening League Fixture for the U13's against Well Drilled Tamworth

It was 1337 when John De White, a young gent of Tamworth was fined 2d for "evacuating his bowels to the abomination of neighbours and passers by". Now at times yesterday it felt like the XIII of Tamworth Rugby Club were extolling the same practice against our intrepid band of brothers, yes the lads were possibly and not the pigeon but the statue yesterday, but there are many positives that we need to focus on during this long and arduous season.
Firstly the pack are really gelling as a unit, passionately led by Monty. The scrummaging is starting to look a lot tighter with Oli B, Riley, Monty, Herbie, Dougie and Tom providing a reasonably solid platform. Great tackling from Riley and Oli B, which ultimately injured them both was great to see. Thoughts go out to our resident Bulldog - Riley - who will be out for an extended period with his injury - we all wish you a speedy recovery. Substitutes Jake, Charlie Q and James Hibbert all contributed with good ground work and tackling. Especially well done to James in his first game of the season, there was some real solid tackling going in.
The backs had several forays and at times they looked like a cohesive unit. Jude, Conor and Ethan combining well at times with some slick handling, almost ending up with Burton breaking the Tamworth Defensive line. There was also good running from Aidan, Rhys and Job - but alas there was no end result for the boys. Isaac had another strong performance and also a great effort from Heath when he was called upon as a sub for his first game.
The level of commitment, enthusiasm and desire to do well was quite evident and it gives us heart as we travel through the season that results and performances will ultimately improve. Its also good to see that they are starting to come together as a group socially which will only improve the on field performances.
Well done lads and we will see you all next week.
