Burton RFC U13's 58 v Wayside & Drumpellier RFC 0

What a great day we all had yesterday on The Croft, home of Burton Rugby, where we faced a touring side from Bonny Scotland who arrived in kilts ready to do battle!
Wayside & Drumpellier RFC returned for the second year to our club. Last year we were unavailable as we were also on tour so they played
Barton under Needwood RFC who they beat 32-12. This year it was our turn to give them a taste of what the Trent Valley can really offer!

All available players turned out in the glorious sunshine, to put on a fine show for the 300+ crowd. With people singing and bagpipes playing it
certainly set the scene for a good game.

We started strong and soon took the upper hand, despite the size of the opposition. Some well worked forward play fed the backline and Levi stretched his legs for the first try of the day.
Confidence spread throughout and we were soon passing, tackling, off loading into contact and all the other wonderful things we can do when we know we are the better team.

Several players were playing in new positions and Bed Cadman took a rest from second row and started as Centre, he soon got into the swing of it and made great progress cutting through the Scottish line time after time eventually resulting in a well earned try.
The Waysiders couldn’t live with us and continued pressure and excellent teamwork saw trys scored by Dan Heale, Charlie Bunting, Ben Mason (who had a brace), Ed Turner returning to form powered over the line and Will Beardsmore, not to be left out after finished the batting.
Well done to all, the success of the previous week’s tour has raised our game and today all players, available to play, worked together to create a very impressive display of U13’s rugby. Let’s keep this forward momentum going over the last few games of the season and finish on the high that we deserve.
