Well a severely depleted team of 19 players turned up at Loughborough RFC this morning ready to give it their best shot. Despite the opponents having only 14 players, no referee and pitch that was up to our knees also someone forgot the spare match shirts (me) and poor Perry ended up ref’ing and identifying dog poop……. but despite all this a pleasant morning was had by all.
We started well and looked like the team of previous weeks for the first ten minutes, rucking hard passing well and scoring two quick try’s by firstly Callum Brodrick weaving run from our own twenty-two, then Zak Dyche muscle fuelled drive over the line.
Then things went a bit ‘Pete Tong’ as a shape changed, we all got white line syndrome and everyone thought they could get there name on the score sheet. Other tries were scored by Austin Coates, Ben Mason & Levi but the opposition never gave in and pulled a couple back.
Despite a good talk at half time we couldn’t really find our previous form and the final score of 27-10 should be celebrated, but not too much as we could have done many things a lot better. Next week is our first big test with a Cup match away to Wolverhampton. We need to have a word with ourselves and get things back on track, play with more ambition and do the simple things better than today.
Well done to all and see you ALL at training this Thursday.
