Walsall v Burton

Burton turned up to play Walsall with just enough players, having a few out with injurys. Henry agreeing to play ensured we had a full team but no subs.

Despite some good but scrappy tackling by Burton, Walsall managed to score a quick try within the first 5 minutes. Burton responded by managing to fend of some good tackling by Walsall and get the ball out to winger Kyle who used his pace to score the first Burton try of the game.

The next try was for Burton when Lawson managed to use his strength to fend off some strong Walsall defence and run the to ball to the try line, this was then converted by Ollie.

Kyle received a great catch from the starting kick which was passed to Hector who like Lawson powered through the Walsall defence and went on on to run in another try for Burton.

Walsall took advantage of the tired Burton pack and passed to a very fast winger who managed to score them a try.

By now the parents were desperate for the whistle to blow for half time, watching tired legs on the pitch and having lost our voices from all the encouragement from the side line we were all relieved when we heard the whistle !

At first it did not look like the half time rest & oranges had revived the Burton players with Walsall running in a very quick try. But Burton pulled themselves together and worked well as a team to get the ball out to Mitchell for his first try for Burton which was then converted by Ollie.

Walsall were not going to make it easy for us and responded with a try of their own despite some good tackling from Burton.

This saw a fired up Lawson with another powerful run through their defence and a further try for Burton & conversion from Ollie. Mitchell having enjoyed his earlier try put in another great run to secure his second.

The whole team were active in the win and consistently prevented Walsall from taking control of the game. The tackling from the whole team showed great improvement over previous games but a special mention to Mitchell & Joe who proved to both be very pacey tacklers and some great conversions from Ollie. Fantastic team effort to finish the season on, all the lads should be very proud !
