Barbarians determined effort !

As the Barbarian team welcomed Stoke at Barton we were blessed with another sunny Sunday. The Barbarians had a strong turnout of players and the game started on a very positive note. The lads showed their skills in many areas, quick ball from scrum and brilliant fast passing along the lines to the wingers. The lads also put in some strong tackles helping to keep the Stoke team from scoring. Stoke had to work hard for their first try 15 minutes into the game, which was then converted. Unfortunately this was followed by another quick try from Stoke after one of their lads broke free and scored a 75m solo try with none of the Barbarians able to match his pace.
12/0

The second half saw the Barbarians put in some good tackles, however Stoke managed to work through our defence and score a try and conversion. Following a strong scrum and some great passing, Jack Shortern scored a good try stretching Stoke from left to right and opening up space on the left hand side, then Ollie Gibbs scored a conversion. The Barbarians started to lose their line which had been strong in the first half of the game and despite some good tackles, especially from Marcus Tolley and Charlie George, Stoke managed to break free twice and score a further two tries and convert one.
25/7

The Barbarians gave a determined effort, however on the day Stoke were the bigger stronger team. Man of the Match was Hector Abel.
