Burton faced a tough battle today in some extremely poor conditions which are being experienced by most clubs in area.

First of all, apologies to all parents as the match report has been lost so this one is from a foggy memory!

The match is kicked off by Burton’s Connor ‘the rabbit’ Hutchinson... the ball lands on a Stoke player as the Burton Bulldogs tackle and take the ‘Stokies’ to ground. The ball is knocked on by Stoke, scrum down Burton ball which they come away with. Ethan ‘the brawler’ Lilley has the ball... 1 Stoke player... 2 Stoke players... and they can’t bring him down until a very fortunate tap tackle see him hit the ground. He presents the ball beautifully for Pete ‘the danger’ Graingers to collect only to be tackled by Stoke who now have the ball and are over the line for their 1st try of the game which went unconverted. Stoke 5 Burton 0.

Restart... Elliot Brown, Georgie-boy Else and Matt ‘the machine’ Shenton are on top tackling form but cold hands prevent Burton from making much progress up field. The 1st half sees Stoke running in a further 5 tries none of which were converted. But then what’s this??????? A belting tackle by Burton’s Bash Brothers Jake ‘the punisher’ O’Toole and Liam ‘ram man’ O’Toole, both smash into a stoke player at the same time and the ball pops up for Connor ‘the rabbit’ Hutchinson who is skipping between the ‘Stokies’, he’s passed 2 now 3 players... is he going to get caught? Not a chance, he is over the line for a fantastic try (well done Hutch). The angle of the conversion is really tight, even Owen Farrell would most probably miss this. But Burton’s Will ‘the boot’ Bower doesn’t, with a fantastic kick Will brings the score to Stoke 25 Burton 7. End of the 1st half

2nd half sees Burton playing most of it in their own 22yard line. Stoke are relentless and run in a further 4 tries, 2 of which are converted making the score Stoke 46 Burton 7. Connor ‘the rabbit’ Hutchinson again has the ball and is over the try line. Will ‘the boot’ Bower wants to restart quickly to try and get another score so decides to leave the near impossible conversion that would of only of sucked up game time (great decision Will, very professional thinking). Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time left for any further score by either side... the final score Stoke 46 Burton 12

Again huge apologies to all parents and Children today for losing the match report.
