Lessons to be learnt...

Burton start off with a well placed boot deep into Lichfield’s 22, only for a Lichfield back to secure the ball and run straight through Burton’s defence and over the try line for the 1st of their 9 tries and 5 conversions. Burton tried to hold off the Lichfield offensive but they were unfortunately unable to succeed, not taking anything away from Lichfield, they were a strong team and there were some very strong set pieces of play by both teams. Burton fought valiantly with some fantastic play by the Burton Forwards making ground towards the Lichfield try line but Burton loose possession allowing Lichfield to ship the ball out to the wing and run in another try. Burton made some hard tackles but Lichfield always managed to off load the ball to score. As the half time whistle blew, the score was Lichfield 43 Burton 0.

The 2nd half began with Lichfield running in 2 very quick tries and converting 1 taking the score to Lichfield 55 Burton 0.

The coaches and Ref had a quick chat and the decision was made to call the match.

All said and done, well done to the Burton lads for wanting to carry on with the match and for not being disheartened. They held their heads high and never gave up... a fantastic display of true Sportsmanship. Taking nothing away from Lichfield, they have always been a tough team and have always given us a hard game, they are the proverbial thorn in our side, both teams love the rivalry and it is always an interesting match.
