It's better than going shopping on a Saturday afternoon!

It’s not all about training twice a week and playing at the highest level to gain promotion. Rugby is also about the enjoyment, camaraderie and more importantly not going shopping on a Saturday afternoon!

This is where Burton Rugby Club can help as we currently run two social sides.

The Bees (or 3rd team) is made up of players who can’t commit to training and playing every week but play for the enjoyment and having a few friendly beers in the club house afterwards. It is the aim of the club to fulfill a fixture for the Bees each Saturday from September through to the end of April.

In addition to the Bees we have our beloved Veterans which are for players who over 35 and still have the love for the game but their bodies simply cannot deal with playing each week. So for this reason, we schedule between 6 to 8 games a season for the Vets and try and make a special occasion of it for example having a post-match meal or playing a double header when the 1st XV are at home.

But and there is a but…… this can’t happen without players and the more the merrier as it helps when people are away for the weekend or you HAVE to go shopping with the wife! Even if we have more than 15 players on a Saturday that is still not an issue as we can have roll-on roll-off substitutions.

Did you also know that as a Mini/Junior parent your family membership also allows you to play senior rugby so this is the ideal opportunity to follow in your son or daughters foot-steps or get back involved with playing and show them how it is done

Join up for Social Rugby @ Burton Rugby

We are having a player’s registration night on Thursday 27th August 2015 starting at 19:30 in the clubhouse, Peel Croft, Lichfield Street (opposite Halfords) where the Playing & Coaching Team will be on hand to answer any questions, register you as a player and collect your annual membership which will £75 for the season. As an incentive those players who register and pay on the night is that you will also have a free feed (Curry) and be entitled to receive a free Burton RFC Leisure T-shirt from our kit suppliers BLK as part of your membership fee

Hope to see as many new & old faces on the 27th August
